Barkston Ash is a Voluntary Aided, Catholic primary school catering for boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 11 years.

Set in a North Yorkshire Village, yet within easy reach of Leeds, York and Selby, the school enjoys an excellent reputation locally. It serves the Parish of St Joseph The Worker, Sherburn-in-Elmet. It is the only school in the village of Barkston Ash and therefore also serves the local community.

The school was established as a Catholic School around 1870, on its present site, and has grown to meet the needs of the local community. It is part of the Catholic Diocese of Leeds and is well supported by North Yorkshire LEA.

More recently we have established this website as a means of providing information about our school to the wider community. We also 'Tweet' regularly - follow us via Twitter at barkstonashcps to keep informed of all thats happening at school.

'My name is Anne O’ Neill and I have been the Head Teacher at Barkston Ash Catholic Primary School since September 2003.

At Barkston Ash we are a very welcoming, caring school, a family community, with Christ at the centre, offering a high quality education to all children.

As a staff we have worked hard to raise standards at Barkston Ash, always keeping in mind the enjoyment and well being of the children and the need to provide a broad and balanced curriculum. We aim to capture the interest of all our pupils, to give them a life-long love of learning and respect for everyone around them.

I am very proud of our whole school community, of our achievements and the mutual respect that everyone has for each other.
