July 2014 - League Matches V Whitley and Eggborough
The boys’ A team played their final matches of the season away at Whitley and Eggborough. In the first match Barkston Ash  twice went a goal down but fought back to draw 2-2. Oli Stables made it a debut to remember with an excellent finish to make it 1-1 and captain Aiden Rucklidge scored from a very narrow angle to get a point. In the second match Barkston Ash played some fantastic football to come out 4-2 winners. Sam Perrin scored twice with an own goal and a close range finish from supersub Oscar Fountaine (scoring with his first touch after coming on!). The whole team performed really well and it was a fitting way to end a great season. The team in full were: Alfie, Luca, Jack M, Oscar, Thomas, William, Aiden, Sam, Oli and Jack B.

June 2014 - Tag Rugby Day
We had a brilliant Tag Rugby day where each class in the school took part in a Tag Rugby coaching session with a professional coach from Rugby for All. The children really enjoyed the sessions and developed their rugby skills.

June 2014 - Mixed Football Tournament at Sherburn High
Girls and boys from Years 4, 5 and 6 took part in the Sherburn Cluster Mixed football tournament at Sherburn High School. Barkston Ash won 6 out of the 7 matches they played, losing only to the eventual winners Brotherton. Overall they finished as tournament runners up. Well done to everyone who took part. The team consisted of: (Back Row) Jodie Milburn, Luca Noblett, Aiden Rucklidge, Jack Myers, Georgie Brennan and Jessie Whyte. (Front Row) Jack Barrett, Oscar Fountaine, Sam Perrin, Joshua Falk, Sam Luke and Alex Rennocks.

June 2014 - Y3/4 Drax Cup Cricket Champions!
The Y3/4 Cricket team took part in the regional Drax Cup Cricket tournament at Selby Cricket Club with thirteen other Primary Schools. They played four matches in total. They beat Swinefleet Primary by 90 runs in the first match, overcame Kellington by 50 runs in the second game, beat Camblesforth by 103 runs in the penultimate match and in the deciding encounter beat Snaith Primary School by 42 runs. The statistics from the winners of each group were then analysed to see which team had scored the most runs and Barkston Ash were declared the winners! They will now go to the area final later this month! Congratulations to the whole team. They were: (Back row) Sam, Oli, Max, Holly, Molly – (Front row) Alex, Theo, Rory (Captain), Jessica and Harrison.

May 2014 – Dodgeball Tournament at Sherburn High School
The Year 5 Dodgeball team had a great time at Sherburn High School when they took part in a dodgeball tournament. They played seven matches against schools in the local area and loved taking part in the games. The team in full were: back row – Ellis, Oscar, Luca (captain), Reece, Luke – front row – Stephanie, Grace and Poppy. Well done to the whole team for competing so well and representing the school with such distinction.

May 2014 - Boys’ League Football V Brotherton
The boys’ league football team played both their league matches against Brotherton. The first match resulted in a 3-1 victory for Barkston Ash. The goals were courtesy of a long range Sam Perrin strike, an Aiden Rucklidge penalty and a fantastic team goal that was finished expertly by Aiden again. The second match finished 4-0 to Brotherton, who showed what a good team they are. A big well done to all the boys, especially Oscar and Ellis who were playing their first football match for school. The team in full were: Alfie, Luca, Oscar, Aiden, Joshua, Sam, Jack B, Jack M, Matthew and Ellis.

April/May 2014 – Bikeability 
Children in Year 5 have been taking part in special cycling proficiency lessons. They have all passed a theory highway code test and then took part in a range of activities to improve their cycling skills. The lessons take trainees on a journey from the basics of balance and control, all the way through to planning and making a journey by themselves on busier roads. Well done to all the children for achieving level 2 proficiency! 

April 2014  Y3/4 Football  Saxton 1-2 Barkston Ash 2
The Year 3/4 football played with great enthusiasm and skill to record a 2-1 victory away at Saxton. All of the boys were playing their first football match for school and  played some great football. The goals were scored by Joshua Falk (a coolly taken penalty) and Harry Calvert (an excellent finish into the top corner). Well done to the whole team: Dylan, Oli (man of the match), Harrison, Sam, Joshua (captain), Alex, Rory, George and Harry.
April 2014 - Y5/6 Swimming Competition
Well done to the school swimming team who represented the school with great distinction in the Sherburn cluster swimming competition. The team took part in individual and relay races and finished in 3rd place. Well done to Jack, Sam, Georgie, William, Alfie, Emma, Elizabeth and Nell (captain).  
March 2014 - North Yorkshire Cross Country Final
Sam, Oli, George, Joshua, Rory, Alex and Sam all qualified for the prestigious North Yorkshire Cross Country final at Catterick Racecourse. They all ran superbly to complete the gruelling course. Well done, boys! 

February 2014 – Girls’ Football - Saxton 1 - 4 Barkston Ash

Well done to the Girls’ Football team who recently played a friendly fixture against Saxton Primary School. In a very entertaining game, Barkston Ash won 4-1. Jessie Whyte scored twice and there were further goals from Emilie Jarrett and Jodie Milburn. All the children performed well and played with great sportsmanship. Special mention to Stephanie and Eve who were playing in their first football match for school.
The team in full were: Nell, Jodie, Eve, Georgie (C), Jessie, Emma, Emilie, Lara, Stephanie and Elizabeth. Well done to all of you!
November 2013 - Cross Country
50 KS2 children took part in the Selby District Cross Country Competition at Tadcaster Grammar School. All the children who took part completed the course and enjoyed the challenge. The Y3 and 4 runners ran 1200m and the Y5 and 6 runners ran 1500m.

October 2013 - Tag Rugby
Two Year5/6 teams took part in the Selby Rugby Club's Tag Rugby Tournament. The children had a fantastic time playing lots of matches against other schools in the area.

October 2013 - Girls' Football
The new Girls' Football team performed brilliantly in their first matches of the season! They took part in the Selby District Girls' football tournament at Riccall Primary school. Following a 2-2 draw, a 1-0 win and a dramatic 4-3 penalty shoot out success, they then lost a very close final 1-0 to finish runners up. A great achievement girls!

September 2013 - Boys' Football
The boys have started their season as new members of the Selby District football league. They are showing great potential and finished 3rd in the area football tournament. Well done boys!
