World Book Day 2025

At Barkston Ash, World Book Day is our favourite day of the year, providing the perfect platform for our children (and staff!) to express their love of reading!  

Throughout the week, we have welcomed Chris from Brave Words into our school and the children have had lots of fun planning, writing and rehearsing poetry in their workshops.  Everyone is looking forward to their class performances on Friday afternoon!

World Book Day wouldn't be complete without a dress up day and special themed lunch, and this year is no exception.  We have a Harry Potter-themed 'Great Hall' and todays menu features characters from Hufflepuff and Slytherin!  Mrs Murgatroyd, our wonderful school cook, is also running a lunchtime competition where children can win spot prizes of books and book vouchers!

Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, make reading for pleasure a priority, and have fun this World Book Day!
